A Different Kind of Smart - And Why It's Critical
"Success in the knowledge economy comes to those who know themselves-their strengths, their values, and how to best perform." ~Peter Drucker
No longer is it enough to be "book smart" - that can be outsourced. A "different kind of smart" is needed to meet the challenges of the 24/7 workplace filled with multiple generations. Organizations are looking for workers who have the social intelligence to interact with customers and coworkers.
Commonly known as emotional intelligence or EQ, the good news is that it can be increased - unlike IQ. Lin Little, SPHR, will explain why the development of EQ is even more critical for HR professionals as a key player in setting the "tone" or climate of the organizations where they partner.
To take a company from good to great must include emotional intelligence which accounts 58% of all job performance. Research in 15 global companies showed that 90% of success in leadership was attributed to EQ.
This session will: • define emotional intelligence (EQ) • explore why it matters • explore the nature of the core EQ skills • link EQ and important organization outcomes
