The first 50 paid registrants will receive a complimentary autographed copy of Dr. Nelson's latest book Keeping Up in a Down Economy: What the Best Companies do to Get Results in Tough Times

We invite you to join best selling author Dr. Bob Nelson, senior Human Resource professionals and other executive leaders for an exciting event that will leave you energized and prepared to put new ideas and strategies into action as a leader and key contributor to your organization's success.

Dr. Nelson will take attendees through the following 4-state process...

Session 1 (Keynote Address)
Creating a Clear & Compelling Vision for your Group/Organization

In an ideal business environment a company's strategic goals would change very little over the course of its existence. In the real world, however, organizations' goals change often in response to external circumstances such as unplanned for recessions, new competitors, acquisitions/mergers, loss of talent, and technological advancements. To survive in today's ever changing business climate, human resource managers must develop and implement a clear and compelling vision for those they are leading.

In this session Dr. Nelson will discuss why HR managers must be more involved in developing and executing their organization's changing strategic plans as well as key strategies that they can use to accomplish this. Key to this will be involving employees at every stage in the process as doing so gives employees a better understanding of what is expected of them and engages them in achieving them. Dr. Nelson will also discuss why design and implementation must be followed by measurement and analysis to determine what's working and what isn't and then to set revised goals and renewed focus accordingly.

This session will cover information that addresses the following Strategic Management PHR/SPHR Functional Areas: 03, 06, and 07; Knowledge of 01, 03 & 04.

Session 2
Strategic Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats (SWOT) Analysis

HR is rapidly changing from being a money-losing personnel and benefits department within an organization to being a department that is being required to contribute to an organization's overall success through strategic hiring, recognizing and diagnosing employee trends, correctly matching employee skills to strategic goals, and increasing productivity.

In this session, attendees will learn how to ask the right strategic questions to determine if their internal organizational strengths and weaknesses in the areas of employee satisfaction, incentives, and recognition match current opportunities and threats in an effort to help guide and give data to the organization's overall strategic planning process.

Session 3
Recognizing & Rewarding the Right Kind of High Performance

Current research shows that the overall value of rewards and recognition is ineffective when it is not tied directly to desired performance both on a macro and a micro level. Traditional rewards designed to reward everyone such as organizational achievement awards and years-of-service awards, while important, are becoming less and less effective in motivating today's employees to achieve high performance in key areas.

In this session Dr. Nelson will begin by explaining that to effectively reward the right kind of high performance, managers should first recall, or identify, the organization's key strategic objectives. He will then move on and explain how rewarding and recognizing individuals when they contribute positively to the organization's goals will create a sense of understanding amongst employees that "these are the types of actions that get recognized around here" and ultimately lead to a culture in which rewards and recognition move the organization further towards its goals.

Session 4:
Inspiring Exceptional Performance in Employees

Organizations today can create a competitive advantage through its employees by tapping into the energy, ideas and creativity of every member of the organization.

In this session, Dr. Nelson will share his research and strategies for getting all employees to take initiative and be more innovative in the workplace today. He shows how to overcome obstacles that employees are likely to encounter when pursuing new ideas and persevere with those ideas they most believe in. Focus will be placed on the small things that can be done to start to make a BIG difference in your workplace as well as strategies employees can use for "keeping commitment to their commitment." Attendees will leave this session with a practical plan and techniques for immediate implementation back on the job.
