CAHRA Membership Categories & Dues

Membership in CAHRA is available on an individual, non-transferable basis and is open to individuals based upon 5 categories and their respective qualifications: 

  • SHRM & CAHRA Professional Membership (annual dues: $70)
  • CAHRA ONLY Professional Membership (annual dues: $95)
  • SHRM & CAHRA Student Membership (annual dues: none)
  • CAHRA ONLY Student Membership (annual dues: $20)
  • RETIREE Membership (annual dues: none)

If you are employed by a HR Service Provider (Staffing Representative, Benefits/Insurance Sales, Awards Sales, etc.) then CAHRA guidelines dictate that you must be an active SHRM member and may only join under the SHRM & CAHRA Professional Membership category.

 

SHRM & CAHRA PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP

Annual Membership Dues (Jan-Dec): $70.00

The rights and privileges of the SHRM & CAHRA Professional Membership include the right to vote and hold office in CAHRA.

An individual shall be eligible for SHRM & CAHRA Professional Membership if they maintain an active Professional or General Membership in SHRM and meet at least one of the following four (4) criteria:

1. Engaged in the profession of human resources management in one (1) or more of the following functional areas:

(a) Employment,
(b) Human Resources Planning;
(c) Training and Development;
(d) Compensation and Benefits;
(e) Health, Safety and Security;
(f) Employee Relations;
(g) Human Resources Research;
(h) Affirmative Action/Diversity;
(i) Labor Attorney; full-time attorneys with at least three years experience in counseling and advising clients on matters relating to the human resource profession;
(j) Human Resources Management Consultant; full-time consultants with at least three years experience in the field of human resource management.

or

2. Hold current Human Resource Institute certification and are Members of SHRM.

or

3. Faculty Members holding Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank in human resources management, or any of its specialized functions, at an accredited college or university, who possess at least three (3) years of experience teaching such topics at this level.

or

4. Individuals who would have qualified under section I, A. above that are unemployed for a period not greater than 1 year at the time of application.


CAHRA ONLY PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP

Annual Membership Dues (Jan-Dec): $95.00

The rights and privileges of the CAHRA ONLY Professional Membership include the right to vote and hold office in CAHRA with the exception of President and Chair of the Board.

An individual shall be eligible for CAHRA ONLY Professional Membership if they are currently engaged
In the profession of human resources management in one (1) or more of the following functional areas:

(a) Employment,
(b) Human Resources Planning;
(c) Training and Development;
(d) Compensation and Benefits;
(e) Health, Safety and Security;
(f) Employee Relations;
(g) Human Resources Research;
(h) Affirmative Action/Diversity;
(i) Labor Attorney; full-time attorneys with at least three years experience in counseling and advising clients on matters relating to the human resource profession;
(j) Human Resources Management Consultant; full-time consultants with at least three years experience in the field of human resource management.


SHRM & CAHRA STUDENT MEMBERSHIP

Annual Membership Dues (Jan-Dec): none

Student members may not vote or hold office in the Chapter.

An individual shall be eligible for SHRM Student Membership if they are enrolled as full-time students in human resources degree programs at the college or university level and maintain an active student membership with SHRM. This category is designed for individuals exploring human resources and planning to enter the field. If you plan to use membership to assist you in your work as an HR practitioner, it is preferred that you join as a regular professional member to gain full access to benefits and services

 

CAHRA ONLY STUDENT MEMBERSHIP

Annual Membership Dues (Jan-Dec): $20

An individual shall be eligible for CAHRA ONLY Student Membership if they are enrolled as full-time students in human resources degree programs at the college or university level and are do not hold an active student membership with SHRM. This category is designed for individuals exploring human resources and planning to enter the field and is not a member of SHRM. If you plan to use membership to assist you in your work as an HR practitioner, it is preferred that you join as a regular professional member to gain full access to benefits and services.


RETIREE Membership

Annual Membership Dues (Jan-Dec): none

Retired Members shall retain the rights of CAHRA Professional Membership and shall pay no dues.

All persons who were active SHRM Professional or CAHRA Professional members for at least 10 (ten) consecutive years, have attained the age of 62, and are retired from fulltime employment shall be eligible for Retired Membership upon approval of the Board of Directors.

 

Solicitation Policy
To maintain the professional integrity of the association, there is no soliciting of members or guests immediately before, during or after chapter events. Approved sponsors shall be allowed to display company information in the appropriate locations.
